THE NEED-TO-KNOWS

frequently asked questions

The newborn consultation includes a 1 hour Zoom call with me, in which I will teach you how to lay healthy sleep foundations and patterns for your newborn from Day 1. It also includes a copy of Good Night Foundations – my comprehensive & simple newborn sleep guide, which will be emailed over to you following our call, along with 10% off all my services should you wish to work with me in the future.

No! Everything we discuss on the call and which you’ll find in the newborn sleep guide is about setting up patterns which will help your little one thrive as they build healthy sleep foundations. I explicitly advise against formal sleep training at this stage, and advocate gentle habit-building which will help the whole family sleep better.

No, I am not a lactation expert so stick to what I know! I do include general feeding advice in terms of establishing routines, but for specific breastfeeding support I would advise you speak to your GP or HV in the first instance. They will be able to direct you to the appropriate people who can support you best.

No – it’s almost impossible for a newborn to be on a by-the-clock routine. In fact having one often creates more parental stress and pressure when their baby doesn’t stick to it. Instead, we talk about implementing patterns that will enable your little one to fall into more predictable timings as they grow and develop. I am also a big advocate of flexibility so that families can achieve great sleep without sacrificing their sanity!

Every little one is different, and so I never guarantee that your little one will be sleeping through the night by a certain age. However, if you follow all of my advice as laid out in the newborn consultation, the vast majority of  parents find that their little one is able to start sleeping for longer stretches at night within a few weeks, and some either sleeping through, or waking just once for a feed as early as 11 or 12 weeks.

Yes! I am really happy to offer the consultation as a group call – either with just one or two other friends, or with your whole antenatal group for example. Doing something like this together can be a really fun way of learning together, whilst doing something a bit social around the consultation. Group consultations are also eligible for a discount.
